# Boost: promote a changelog post

Attach a banner, a modal or a snippet to a changelog post so users see the announcement in the app, not only in the changelog.

**Boost** attaches an in-app experience to a changelog post: a banner, a modal or a snippet that brings the announcement to users while they work. It exists only on posts, in their Target & Publish settings.

**You will have at the end:** a post with a boosted experience that reaches its audience in the app.

## When to boost a post

Boost a post when the news should not wait for users to open the changelog: a feature they will use this week, a change in how something works, a deadline.

| Boost format | Use it for |
| ------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Banner | A short line across the page, easy to dismiss |
| Modal | An announcement that deserves the user's attention for a moment |
| Snippet | A small card that does not cover the page |

## Boost a post

1. In the post, after the editor, open **Target & Publish**, then the **Boost** section, and click **Boost this post**.
2. Pick the format: banner, modal or snippet.
3. Write and style the boosted experience like any other experience. See [Tours & Modals](/docs/experiences/tours-and-modals.md) and [Banners](/docs/experiences/banners.md).

## Audience

The boosted experience is tied to its post and shares the post's audience. To reach a different segment with the same news, create a standalone experience instead and target it with [Who](/docs/publish/target-right-people-who.md).

## Verify

* Publish the post to a test segment first, open your app as a member of that segment, and check that the boosted experience shows.
