# Your learning path

Five levels, each with a result you can see and a rough time. Finish one before starting the next. Nothing on level 1 needs a developer; level 2 needs one for the snippet, and level 3 for identify and attributes.

## The five levels

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Visible to me

One experience previewed on your own app, through the Chrome extension. You learn the builder, positioning and preview. About an hour, no developer.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Live for real users

The same experience published to yourself, then to your team, then to everyone. You learn install, Show on, Where, environments and publishing. An hour of yours, and an hour of a developer's for the snippet.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Targeted

The experience shown to the right users only: trial accounts, a role, a plan. You learn identify, attributes, segments and the Who builder. Half a day, most of it on the developer side, for identify and attributes.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Combined

A checklist whose tasks launch tours, a Resource Center that holds it, a goal that measures it. You learn actions between experiences, Resource Center blocks, goals and analytics. Half a day, no developer.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Self-serve and Agent

A Resource Center per audience, the Agent answering from your help center, a first Skill. You learn Knowledge, Launcher, Skills and request usage. A day, then ongoing curation, no developer.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

The Getting started section takes you through levels 1 and 2 page by page, and opens level 3 at [Install Jimo](/docs/getting-started/install-jimo.md). [What to build next](/docs/getting-started/what-to-build-next.md) covers levels 4 and 5.

## The order matters

#### Extension before snippet

You can build and preview everything on your own app before a single line is installed. Only publishing needs the snippet. Build first, so that when the snippet lands you publish the same day.

#### Live before targeted

Publish to yourself, then to your internal team, then to everyone, before you build segments on user data. Targeting on user data needs identify, which needs a developer: do not let it block the first publication.

#### One experience before many

A short tour that reaches real users teaches you more than a library of drafts. Add the checklist, the Resource Center and the Agent once the first one works.

{% hint style="info" %}
**The finish line is level 2, not level 1.** A preview proves the builder works. A publication proves your install, your environment and your targeting work. Most trials stall between the two, waiting on a developer: ask early who can add a script to your app (see [How to start?](/docs/getting-started/how-to-start.md)).
{% endhint %}

## Two questions to answer before you start

Write the answers somewhere your team can see them. Trials that have them end with something live; trials that do not end with drafts.

#### What would make this trial a success for you?

One sentence, with a number if you have one: "new users complete the setup checklist", "support tickets about Reports drop", "the release announcement is seen by 80% of admins".

#### When do you review it, and with whom?

Put a date before the end of the trial, with your developer if the snippet is not in yet. During a trial, the Jimo team runs a kickoff and a follow-up call: book them from the chat.
